Today, exactly at midnight, my blog (www.molif.com), as well as Michel’s blog (www.optimiced.com), are getting rid of their ‘clothes’.

Today is ‘CSS Naked Day‘ — the day which promotes Web Standards!

<img src="/wp-uploads/2008/04/imgp8137_michel+ani_at_css_naked_day_2008.th440.jpg" alt="CSS Naked Day 2008 - getting naked with CSS styles... and not only CSS ;-) class="centered" />

This ‘CSS Naked Day’ is 24 to 48 hours long, and will show, that a blog or website with well written HTML+CSS can look pretty well even without its clothes (without its CSS styles).

So, if you see my blog without CSS today or tomorrow (without its design), don’t be puzzled by this fact — we ’stripped of’ our CSS styles for a good cause — and, as you can judge by the photo above (which we made together a few hours ago), not only of our CSS clothes, but also of our real clothes!

Long live Web Standards!

PS You may also read a story about CSS Naked Day in the Blogherald)

One need only to have nervous fingers and five minutes rest…to start doing something from paper. I’ve started to make these little angels last year in November in the office.
Few colleagues still have some to make them smile. And even artishock got one.

I love to remind to myself, that life is not only work. I left this cup with stars in my ex-office, only completely full.

These are very easy to make…if you like them, see how-to. Warning: once you start, you may never stop.

One very special and fairy girl recently showed to me how to make this flower:

There is more to show, but next time.

Few months ago an online inquiry caught my attention and i still think about it.
The question in this inquiry was simply “Do you read books?” and the maximum positive answer was defined as “1-6 books per year”. This, I admit, amazed me.

As a matter of fact, I couldn’t believe someone considering that nobody reads more than 6 books per year.

I had this opportunity and asked a person, related to this inquiry, about his opinion.
Well, he told me that book worms as me don’t count and in general the young people don’t read books at all.

I refuse to believe it. I think that too many people still read.
On the photo above are only a few of the books I “ate” during the last four-five months.
Well, it is true, that I am dedicated reader - I read everywhere and anytime.
But even so, I am sure that there are many people, who read six, and even seven books last year.

Please, help me prove that.
If you read this blog, just let me know, please, the titles of the last seven books you’ve read.

I’ll be happy if you recommend some.
(My personal recommendation is Dara Horn’s novel - The World To Come, as well as Blink.)

As a kid I tried few times to make candles by myself, with some help from my Dad. Well, they were never very good, mostly because I couldn’t make a good wick.

Last two years me and Michel didn’t throw out the remains of the candles we are using at home /and we use many candles ;-)/ and he always says that one day we can make new candles from them.

I decide to try last Saturday and, armed with Google, I found many different advices for making a good candle wick.
Of course, I didn’t have all that I need for it, so I just improvised, but the good news are that it was very successful try.
The candles are just fine and not only they look nice, but they burn well. Our big joy and pride is the fact that the wicks are ok and candles burn better than some of the originals we ever bought.

If you decide to make your own candles at home, there are many places in the net you can find useful advices. Anyway, that’s how I made our wicks:

1. Thick cotton thread for doily;

2. You twist it twice or even four times, if for bigger candle, and twist it like for making a plait;

3. Soak it in solution of (in my case) liquid paraffin, vinegar and lime or lemon acid;

4. After 15 minutes or more soaking let it dry well;

5. Dip it in some molten wax and hold it under running cold water for a while, to harden.

I guess you’ll find the making of candles at home very pleasant, just like me.
And its surely useful, as you can use the remains of all candles, instead just throwing them.

I am waking up again because of the radio. I’ve been falling asleep and getting awake like this for years, but the last few ones my faithful Nokia 6210 did the same job for me.

I have forgotten how pleasant is to open eyes because of the nice song playing at the moment and without even expect which one it will be. It’s just not the same to wake up with Winamp playlist on the computer, then you’ll know the songs and it won’t be a surprise.

This morning the first song playing was a very old and almost forgotten one, “All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You” - Heart.
As a girl I never listened more than the refrain of the song and I couldn’t recollect the video, but today I just checked Google for the lyrics and it’s quite obvious that the kid in me is still here, because it was impressed. I still love when a song has a story to tell me.

Enjoy this small return to the past

Hours and hours we spent with sugar-coated hands and I was watching my parents, funny quarrelling who is supposed to decorate this or those cookie and why it’s made like this and not otherwise. It was…fairytale. Homey and Christmas-like. The way it always should be.
This Christmas I miss my grandma again. I often miss her, but on holidays I feel her absence in particular.
I am sure she would love these cookies.

I wanted to send this picture as a Christmas card to all my friends, but anyway, I didn’t, so I am showing it here.

Feel satisfied this way, or if you are not, better wait for remake till next Christmas.
