I see a different you

KOOP. Three weeks ago I didn’t know a word about them, but these two eccentric guys from Sweden deserve your attention even if you are not a fan of such music.
Tonight is their concert, promise to tell you how it was.

I dedicate these pieces of sun, warmth and nostalgia to all of my past and current loves:

I travel…back in the memories, back to the nostalgia – what we cannot keep seems most dearest for us…

Catch 22

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Today’s my birthday. 22 of October :-)
And despite I used to upload photos of all of my things made from clay /finished a long ago and some still unfinished/, I just didn’t succeed to.
But I’ll make better photos and will show them here, I promise. :-)

October is my favorite time of the year and is full with gala days for me.
On 9th Michel had also birthday and all day I wanted to greet him from here too, but there was too much work and I missed.
But he did it today for me from his blog, because he is the best man in the world!

Because of him in this rainy Monday I want to put a song here.
This is my greet to you, Michel, because you are you and because you are wonderful and unique:

And for all of you, my friends, the song is this:

Today Has Been Okay

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

When I watched Lord of the Rings, there and then I’ve noticed this singer for the first time and I remembered her name – Emiliana Torrini.
Later I just dropped her from my mind, but suddenly today I’ve stumbled upon her music again and I let it shine over my day.

I think about finding more of it and listen to it more than once. I wanna see how close this music can come and touch me…

P.S. It’s true that the sound in Gollum’s song is very familiar to Björk, but aside of it the resemblance is as feeble as to show only that Torrini is also from Iceland.

Mezzoforte in Sofia (Sofia Jazz Peak – part І)

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

Mezzoforte at Sofia Jazz Peak 200718th of April, Hall 1 of National Palace of Culture (NDK). Mezzoforte. Giants!!

I couldn’t even imagine such an energy wave, but it is always a wonderful feeling to go somewhere without any expectations.

So there was space left for being enchanted. :-)

The instrumentalists from the band “Te” were there at the beginning, playing nicely for about twenty minutes before the headliners, but when Mezzoforte came out on the stage, the level of this event was lifted with some floors higher.

They are from Iceland. Well, at least most of them. This was their third visit in Sofia.
I have never been on their concerts before, but I started to like them immediately, because they are amazing and they deserve to be heard, seen and remembered by everyone.

They were eight people on the stage, but it was like one. Probably because the core of the band are playing together from 15-year-old, I don’t know, but the fusion between them is extraordinary.

It is such an inspiration to be there, to see how they enjoy playing and what a lightness there is in the way they are obsessing the audience.

Yes, it is true – you can hear their music very often on the Bulgarian National Radio and that’s what makes it sounds so familiar. But let me say it – it is not a simple coincidence that Mezzoforte’s music is favorite for years for our oldest music editors.

People there just know what’s a good music.

Corpse Bride

Have you seen the movie Corpse Bride?

I can commend it with enthusiasm to everyone, who can stand the dark sense of humour of Tim Burton. Personally, I adore it.

Not so long ago I watched this movie and felt in love not only in the story, but in the characters and the way the puppets are made.

Besides, the music is fantastic and complement the visual perfection of this modern fairy tale.

The dialogue has fine, subtle jokes – like the line: “Why go up there when people are dying, to get down here?”…

I really like all Burton’s movies, but by my humble opinion, this one is a true masterpiece, even better than Charlie and the chocolate factory.

I wish to be part of team that creates such things like these puppets with their delicate mechanisms, vivid faces and flexible figures.

Probably Burton will come one day in Bulgaria to make a movie like this, who knows.

If that, write me in, please. ;-)

Uhmmm.....

Heh, this can’t be true…This guy is crazy.:-))

Whiskey in the jar

Monday, February 12th, 2007

Oh, at last. Two whole weeks after the concert of Dublin City Workingman’s Band in Sofia (January 26th, National Palace of Culture, Hall 2) I started to write about my own impressions from the event, mini review or sort of.

This concert was one of the numerous events, dedicated to our acceptance in the European Union. (All that jazz, I little bit annoying, huh?).

{Dublin City Workingman's Band} Lilly of the WestBefore the concert small glasses with Baileys и Bushmills were responsible for ensuring the proper mood for Irish music. First Lilly Drumeva with her band Lilly of the West made some songs, very tender and totally unobtrusive stage performance.

The atmosphere was great, but could not prepare us at all for the following typhoon – the wonderful Workingman’s Band.

Music for the soul

heartfishTerrific weather. And a bit terrifying, too.

I am standing here, on the other side of the rain, watching it with love, feeling transported and listening to a wonderful music.

You can also listen to it from here, if you like. She is precious finding to me, called Vienna Teng from Thailand.

While browsing around and jumping from link to link I am getting more and more wonder-struck how many incredible places there are, that I will and I will not visit ever in this life.

How much music that I will hear and I will not, people that I will meet and I won’t, books, movies, pictures…

The weather is strange, that’s probably why I am falling into this weightless mood. Today I feel like dreaming-contemplating-notworking, but! – acumulating creative energy. ;-)

(the picture is made from me, it is called heartfish and it is something like Dive Deep Down Inside)

Wings of desire

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

In the lazy Sunday morning I just remembered this song of Texas:

texas
(this woman has a good taste. Jean Reno is still Jean Reno.)

:-) I was distracted, but the point here is the video, obviously inspired from the Wim Wenders’ movie “Wings of desire”.

I’ve been watched this movie several times and I like it very much.
But Michel has a different view about this movie, so I was curious how other people find it.

Please, watch it if you are not and tell me what you think. :-)

Whims

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Yesterday I realized that my promise for new song every day was a little bit out of hand.

First I thought it was a good idea and it could make me right more often. On the other hand, there’s a risk this place to become mainly a music blog.

That’s why I changed my mind and decided to post a song not every day, but from time to time. Good way to keep you in hot water, huh? :-P

Today I just noticed a new star on the brit pop-stage – Lilly Allen. I was about to skip her quickly, when something made me stop and listen more carefully.
In fact is very pleasant to the ears, if you don’t mind the sadistic tease in the video. They say this girl will go home with many Brit awards.

Lily Allen – Smile. Listen this and tell me what you think. (me still humming the refrain) :-)

P.S. And because a friend of mine asked for two songs today, here is one more from L. Allen. And one more. This girl is an interesting find, I mean it.
